The Southdown Ponds

The Southdown Ponds on Harpenden Common were originally created in 1928 to take water run-off from the nearby roads. In 2004 a project to regenerate the polluted, unusable ponds commenced, polluted silt was removed, the ponds were re-lined, re-sculptured and re-planted with native species. The Ponds are now a lovely place to sit and enjoy a sunny day, feeding the ducks!
